Must Love Dogs: 5 Best Places to Make New Four-legged Friends

Some of us have dogs back at home, and some have never had the joy of having a furry companion. If you find yourself needing some quality time with someone else’s dog, we found five places around and near campus where you’re most likely to “bump into” a person and their dog. (Make sure you ask before you try and pet a stranger’s dog.)

1. The graveyard (in the daytime).

It might sound a little macabre, but people like to bring their dogs here during lunchtime to let them run around. If you don’t mind a few headstones, it’s a great place to make a new furry friend.

2. At the “Rent-a-Pooch” event on campus.

At least once a year, volunteers from the humane society visit campus and invite students to rent a pup. By donating a few dollars to a good cause, you can play with their dogs for a while. Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of an opportunity like that?

3. The big lawn behind the library.

It’s big, green, and covered in grass. It’s practically made for playing with dogs, especially if you like fetch.

4. The dog park by Autzen.

It’s an actual dog park. It doesn’t get much more dog-filled than that.

5. A local humane society.

If you want to do some good while getting some dog time in, volunteer! It’s good for the community, and it’s also fun for you. Find out how to volunteer at Greenhill Humane Society (and lots of other places) at the Holden Center.
