Two Ducks Win National Honors for Service

Morgan Plew and Marc Caputo are stellar examples of student leaders making real change for their communities and our campus – and have received national recognition for their efforts.

Morgan received the prestigious Jean Wirths Scott Leadership Award for Outstanding Change Leadership given by her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. Morgan was recognized for her work implementing changes and improvements in her chapter and the local Panhellenic community. The award specifically recognized Morgan’s exemplary work creating an educational program about sexual violence prevention and response, which was piloted on the UO campus.

When asked about what winning this award means, Morgan indicated it is about showing that women of all ages can actually make a difference in their communities. “Even the smallest idea can have a huge impact with hard work and perseverance,” Morgan said.

Hard work and perseverance also led to the selection of Marc Caputo as one of the ten Sigma Nu Alpha Alumni Chapter Affiliate award recipients for the 2014–2015 year. Mark, who served as his chapter’s vice president this past year, was recognized for being “a worthy example or model for others to follow,” and somebody whose overall achievements mark him “as one who has contributed to the excellence of Sigma Nu at his college or university.” Mark previously served as the Interfraternity Council’s vice president of civic engagement and was a member of the Student Orientation Staff for the Robert D. Clark Honors College.
