Athletics
The University of Oregon is a proud member of the PAC
10 Conference competing against teams such as Arizona, ASU,
USC, California, UCLA, Stanford, Washington, WSU, and Oregon
State University. Men's sports include football, basketball,
cross-country, wrestling, track & field, golf, and tennis.
Women's sports include basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross-country,
track & field, softball, golf, tennis, and lacrosse (added
in the 2004-05 school year).
UO athletes and teams have made appearances in a variety
of tournaments and bowls throughout the years. Some of those
include NCAA and NIT basketball tournaments, Fiesta Bowl,
NCAA Cross Country and Wrestling Championships, and the Rose
Bowl. The University of Oregon is also well known for its
Track & Field program. The famous Hayward Field resides here
in Eugene hosting only the best of the best every year. Great
athletes from Steve Prefontaine to Becky Holiday have competed
at Hayward Field. UO currently holds seven Pac-10 Conference
track and field records in a variety of events.
A number of students have gone on to participate in the Olympics,
NFL, and the NBA. One of the most recent athletes who have
gone on to play professionally is Luke Ridnour, drafted to
play basketball by the Seattle Supersonics in 2003.
