Peer Mentoring Programs

Ethnic Origins Peer Mentoring Program focuses on recruitment, retention, and advocacy for students who self-identify as African American, Native American, Chicano/Latino American, and/or Asian/Pacific Islander American and/or multiracial background. The program strives to provide a support system for incoming first year students as they transition into life at the University of Oregon. Benefits of being a mentee include learning about resources available to students who identify as students of color, attending social and cultural events sponsored by various ethnic student unions on campus and meeting other students who are going through the same transition process. The Peer Mentor program matches incoming students with junior or senior peer mentors of color who provide academic and social support for the incoming student. Students also participate in a series of workshops and activities to realize their resources on campus.
