Nontraditional Student-Faculty Mentorship Program

The Nontraditional Student-Faculty Mentorship Program is a great opportunity for nontraditional students to enhance their academic experience and to integrate more fully into the institution. The program matches nontraditional students with university facultymembers who share similar academic interests. Nontraditional students can ask to be paired with a mentor in their major, minor, intended field of graduate study, or with a faculty member who shares a similar research interest. Students involved in the program will meet with their mentor at least once per quarter for one academic year.

Your mentor can serve as a valuable resource with whom you can discuss such topics as:

  • Course work
  • Academic plans
  • How to navigate the university
  • Research and internship opportunities
  • Post-graduation plans

Developing a mentoring relationship with a faculty member can have additional benefits. These benefits include possible letters of reference, research opportunities, and professional connections.

If you have further questions about the program, please contact Gretchen Jewett, Coordinator of Nontraditional Student Programs at gjewett@uoregon.edu.
